Damn Quicktime
Open up Windows Media Player and select TOOLS-OPTIONS-FILE TYPES from the top tab. Tick the files you want associated with it i.e avi etc.
Now open Quicktime & select EDIT-PREFERENCES-QUICKTIME PREFERENCES. from the drop down menu select FILE TYPE ASSOCIATIONS.
Uncheck the WINDOWS TYPE FILES box & the notification box.
That should do it.
