guys,

i need to get a good colour printer for photos etc (never need to print bigger than A4).

I have had a bad experience with Epson.

Budget is not really an issue

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Cannon S820 about £130, I'm very happy with it.

What probs have you had with Epson ? I just bought a Photo 830 and its just the job for me. Prints A4 enlargements and 4x6 perfectly, am dead chuffed with it cos were taking photos with the digital camera and printing them straight off.

Pilotman, I had the same predicament a few weeks ago when I was looking for a decent photo printer.
It was between a Epson 925 or the new Canon i950, after reading plenty of reviews I went for the Canon and haven't looked back.
The points what persuaded me was the print speed and individual colour cartridges.
The Epson does print very good prints but can take upto 14 minutes for a best A4 photo, the Canon takes under 3!
Cost is around £250 for the i950.

Rob.

Rob where did you get the Canon from? Very few net sites seem to be stocking it! Was after a Canon i850 myself as apparently its a revelation in printer quality and speed for the price, anyone know a net site i can get one for a good price?

P1, I bought my i950 from Best Cameras.
Yes the print quality is a revelation and for a resonable cost as well.

Question

I was looking around too. Two questions on the printers recommended so far:

1. Cartridge cost? (I have an old laserjet for b&w, so for pics only).

2. Is the picture water resistant? Dad had an old canon, a print only needed to look at a drip of water and the colours would run. His new one is nicely "fixed" on the paper.

Brendan, well for the Canon i950 there are 6 cartridges to replace, in PC World they are £7 each (the most your likely to pay)
In regards of water as long as you let it dry for the recommended time I can't see any problems.
