hiya,

ram is some winbond stuff (all bought from microdirect), have another machine here using the same board/ram except the cpu is a AMD 2200+ and its running fine.

If I clock it down to run at 2100+ speed, it runs ok, going to try it with windows xp pro (sp1)..

cheers

Winbond - that sounds like a quality brand

Can you swap the RAM between PCs and see what happens?

If you bought the generic Winbond ram from microdirect, be careful. We bought a batch of it in for some fast machines and it wasn't very stable at all if running anything over DDR354 . -5ns Winbond chips. The generic stuff seems pap, but the TwinMOS sticks kitted out with these chips actually perform very well. Most odd........

Cheers,

Nick

Is there a 'Top Performance' setting in the BIOS ? If so turn it off. Have had similar problems with a gigabyte board that were resolved this way.
