Wireless networking - What do I need?
#1
Not wanting to waste money on needless stuff. Here's what I want to do.
Connect my Tivo, new shuttle PC(coming to a lounge near me soon) to my home network(currently UTP).
Home network comprises of my main PC, which has 2 NIC's in 1 for the Cable modem, 1 for the home network, a spare PC which has a single NIC in, and my work laptop which uses it's NIC card for connecting to my home network.
Now I can't really get rid of the wired LAN connection as it'd mess up the config of my work laptop(a no no).
So I guess I need some kind of wireless router and a wireless network card for the Shuttle PC.
Can I connect my existing 4 port hub to the wireless router and so not need to bother getting wireless cards for the PC's?
The Tivo I think is covered as Mutant matt is trying to do the same thing as me with it
Any suggested products that will do the above and yet not break the bank?

Surely the way to do it is with a wireless bridge to the shuttle / tivo ( cable from the bridge to these machines ) and another hanging off the hub where your other kit is.
I think this is how I'm going to do mine ( except your shuttle is my x-box )
But I'm no expert.

I just installed a Wireless Router with 4 port switch. Works a treat. Wired network upstairs wirless card in laptop for anywhere within range and soon to be Wireless Bridge for my Xbox or anything else with an ethernet socket.
