DVD player uses wireless LAN to play video files

KOREAN FIRM WISEMBED has come up with a new wheeze in the form of a DVD player with 802.11b wireless LAN capabilities. When combined with software on your PC, it can be used to play media files from your hard drive.
The MBoX ip300 doesn't just play DVDs, it will also play MP3 music files, MPEG 4 and DivX files. It has all the usual DVD player features like Dolby Digital and dts but hiding inside its case is effectively a small PC.
The device is based around an NS Geode [remember those?] and 64MB of SDRAM. The details on the company's site are quite comprehensive about the technical specification. There's even talk of video-on-demand using the 802.11b to access your PC's internet connection.
