1. You could trying restoring to a FAT/FAT32 partition

2. enable inhertied permissions from parent object on the flies/folders

3. try taking owner ship of the files.

might work might not...goodluck

I need to access some document from an old W2K Pro backup. The machine it came from is now long gone. Problem is if I restore the files from the backup onto my machine I am restricted from opening the files by NTFS restrictions. Does anyone know how if and how it's possible to get around the restrictions and access the files?

Cheers,

Dave
