Cool

Each Postcode is made up of several parts...

PE1 1AA

PE (Postal Town)
1 (Zone 1 in Postal Town)
1 (Zone 1 in Zone 1)

After that, its down to total accuracy with the rest of it, the last remaining letters.

Now every full postcode in the country has a grid ref or lat/long assigned to it - its how multimap, streetfinder etc work.

What I ONLY want is the first 3 parts, or to put it another way, the initial postcode up to the space and the character after the space, in order to provide me with the co-ordinates of that particular area (known as a centroid).

This'll be accurate to approx 3 or 4 miles in many cases but is totally sufficient for my needs.

Before I get STFU comments, I've yet to find anybody (AFD/Royal Mail/NSO/Ordinance Survey etc etc) that can provide me with this subset of the FULL 2.2 million postcodes

I'd accept it down to just the bits before the space... ??

Yes, but they don't think they can do it

Quite happy to supply the 2.2 million PAF files db though

Without knowing the centre postcode for each area I'm after...

Puff,

I've found this database for my Palm Tungsten that runs using MobileDB.

Link

If the link doesn't work search for Postcodes on Mobile DB

It has all the 3 letter codes and the towns and areas that they cover. It is valid to 2000.

Martin.
