Came into work today to cover a back shift, Not in the best of moods after finishing Night Shift at 07:30 this morning

Anyway there was a note for me to check one of the desktops had a look at it and its totally infected with Virus`s the only thing can do is format.

Anyway the boss wants a report on why this has happened I know exactly how, my mate has had an infected PC and has brought games and emulators in and put them on the desktop.

Do i tell the boss how it happened and get my mate busted or just shrug and go "i dont know".

 

will your boss believe it was caused by an infected email?

 

Hope so or my mates busted last time someone brought a virus into work it decided to go through the Network and he was straight out the door.

weve got Altiris Client Monitoring software at work so if the boss really wanted to see what happened he coulg just go and look at the logs

(think i`ll warn my mate now)

 

First off, I think he's been stupid and so deserves whatever comes to him.

But at the same time, if he's a mate I wouldn't be able snitch on him. If you choose this option, you've got to remember that you're probably putting your job on the line as well - all due to his stupidity!

If it were me I would tell the boss that somebody has accidently downloaded an infected e-mail or used an infected floppy disk.

Do you know which virii (did i spell that right) they were ??
If you do, and you spot one that is a mail virus, or probably could have come in via email...tell your boss it had that virus
and that it was an email virus...unless your email servers have
mail sweeping, in which case it might not be prudent.
Boot sector virus....caused by infected floppy...anyone could have done it then ??
