can anybody give me some info,

Looking at 4 ADSL points in work,

Already have a network with 70 machines on it,

I understand you need a router etc, but with regards to connection,

It only has to go to these 4 points NOWHERE else I have been told.

Is it a case of getting the setup and a router, putting another 4 network cards into the PC's and linking direclty to the router

Std network in company is 10 base T,

all help on this matter would be greatly appreciated as on this front I am a complete NOVICE

- Does this ADSL connection exist already, or is it about to be installed?
- Does the network already have internet connectivity?

Not a q'n, but clarification - so you've got a number of existing PCs that shouldn't have access to the ADSL connection and 4 new ones that should, correct?

Hi Jase, from what I can gather, you will be getting FOUR ADSL
lines in, yes ??
Attaching one to each pc ?? yes ?
The ADSL will come in on tel lines, as normal , yes ?

Is it a requirement that you have to have 4 ADSL lines, or
4 pc's with internet access ??
If 4 pc's with access get one adsl connection, and ONE ADSL
router, the routers will come with RJ45 conns to connect to the pc's.
If the pc's are networked as well that obviously brings in others probs, as it will if pc's are not located close to each other.

got it sorted guys,

basically from what i've been told,

1 line - 1 router into main network(75pc's)

only configure 4 machines for use,

4 pc's use the line , everybody else works on as if its not there but if i/company wanted to open up more users it's just a configuration option per machine.

Yes - one line in, connected to a router. You can configure those which should have external access by specifying the IP of the gateway on those boxes. You could also prevent other clients connecting by filtering at the router. i.e. only allowing certain IPs or MAC addresses to pass traffic through the router. That will depend on what router you have, though.
