Is there software to record from Sound card ?

I want to extract a DVD sound track to audio CD.
I have done it before the long way round, ripping the CD, extracting Vobs, extracting AC3 track, AC3 to MP3 converter, then splitting the MP3 into chunks & burning to Audio CD.
Trouble is it takes HOURS!
Is there any software that will allow me to play the DVD on the computer using WinDVD (or whatever), and have the software take the output from the soundcard and record it straight to a big MP3 - or similar.
I know I can do a Line Out to Line In loop, and record from Line In using Real Jukebox, but there must be a way to do this without having to go to the analogue stage (cables).
Any ideas?
