High guys - don't worry, not a 'what console' thread....
Got a bit of cash leftover after xmas and was thinking about buying an X Box...
Just wanted to know where the best deals where on the high street and online...If the high street isnt much more expensive I will get it there.
Ive seen them online for about £200 with Halo and Splinter Cell, plus 2 free games/plus Jet Set Radio Future & Sega Gt 2003...
Anyone know if anywhere that is currently doing better than that? - the bundle needs to have decent games - I remember when I got my PS2, it came with a surfing game and it was the worst game I can remember playing.
Cheers for any help,
John

You can't go wrong with that current bundle mate.
Halo is superb, a must have FPS, really surpasses the hype
Splinter Cell is for XBox what Metal Gear Solid 2 was for PS2, stealth-em-up job.
Sega GT will do as a racing game (it's free, so who cares)
JSRF is kinda quirky but really addictive.
Get yourself another controller and you'll be laughing.

I finally got to play an xbox last weekend after much anticipation.
What a waste of time! Sooooooo disappointing, Halo was good but after a couple of hours became boring but nice visuals, Sega GT, that has to be one of the worst driving games, the control and turn-in on the cars is $hite! JSRF, quite liked it actually.
All in all a poor show! (IMHO )

Gary,
What did you expect m8?
I've an XBox and my brother has an Xbox & PS2. To be honest, I don't see much of a difference in the two consoles except the line-up of games.
At the end of the day, it comes down to just how good the games are and whether they manage to come up with something new.
I mean, just how impressed are you gonna be with yet another driving game or yet another platform game ?? Do you think FIFA 2003 will be a whole different experience that FIFA 2002 ?
Halo is quite good, but it's just like Red Faction or Counter Strike or any other shoot-em up over the past 10years. Only difference is the visual effects are a whole lot better.

ozzy,
yes good point, guess Id been caught up in the hype for so long that my expectations were abit high! I had a PS2 when the first came to the UK but sold it coz I thought the games were just prettier versions of PS1 games.
Must be getting old!

I've got for my Xbox:
Halo - Admitably poor single player (very short and repetitive in level layout), but wicked multiplayer, especially with 2 xboxs and a link cable.
Rallysport Challenge - I must be the only person who prefers this to CMR2? It looks the biz and plays very well.
Dead or Alive 3 - Fantastic motion capture, lovely graphics, bouncing boobies, just a play method that's a bit questionable.
OddWorld: Munches Oddysee - Very fun, instantly playable, and the cutscenes will have you in stitces.
Mechassault - Bit disapointing (I'm used to Mechwarrior PC games) but playable. Good online play
MotoGP - Fantastic race game, very good online play, get your mates on it.
Project Gotham Racing - seems hard to being with but stick with it and it pays off. Some of the challenges in later parts will have you sat there for a couple of hours trying and trying again.
Splinter Cell - a must have game. You won't want to put it down. Dont believe me, read the posts on scoobynet.
Blinx - Very addictive platformer. The time controls are a good addition and stop it getting stale. Has the replay value of mario64
Amped Snowboarding - I find it quite a hard game, but still play it occaionally. Still doesn't touch 1080 on the N64.

Cheers guys (for all opinions )
I thought about £200 was the best bundle going, just wanted to check
Think I may pop out this afternoon and treat myself - got a whole stack of vouchers and stuff from various stores to use up so I may be able to knock a few more quid off if I choose carefully...
Cheers again,
John

All you need for the Xbox is Halo, Splinter Cell, Project Gotham and a coupla spare controllers, oh, and a Dolby Digital system and cables and a big widescreen tv and plenty of spare time...
