Does anyone know if it is possible to run twin monitors from a single laptop so that the external monitors show an extended desktop that covers both screens?

What video card would allow me to do this?

it is possible through two routes, assuming the laptop is a Compaq

1. Use the PCI slot in a docking station to house a twin head video card. Requires a standard PCI video card and an ArmadaStation II or an Expansion base

2. Buy a PCMCIA based video card with a dongle to connect two video cables.

Option 2 wasn't a very good solution as the performance was poor and the drivers only ran at 640x480.

Thanks Towzer. Have you actually tried this or is it just stuff you know. I'll check out the Compaq site anyway.

I currently have a good desktop setup but could do with a laptop too really, (also my desktop is about due for a processor and OS upgrade), so I was thinking if I could spec a laptop to be my sole machine then it could take over from my desktop (which runs twin monitors). Killing several birds with one cost-effective stone ;D
