Kingpin problem :(
#1
Hi,
Just installed kingpin & the latest patch from a Sold-Out copy of the game.
When I start it the screen goes black and my monitor power light plashes as if the PC has been turned off, i.e. no signal to the monitor. Only solution is a reset. No error message. Please help.
Elonex PC
Windows 2000 pro
celeron 566
192Mb ram
Sound PBlaster 16bit sound card (PCI 128)
geforce 2 MX 32Mb video card
50x CD rom

BuRR's suggestion is probably best, if you havent got the latest Nvidia detenator drivers for your gfx card then get them (www.nvidia.com) likewise if the game has a patch out then install that!

Dear Paul,
Sorry but we do not support Windows 2000 or NT as they are not designed
for gaming. Sold Out products are not tested on NT systems, therefore we
cannot support it.
Windows 2000 is not really intended for gaming purposes, as this quote
from Microsoft's site would attest to:
"Make sure that Windows 2000 is appropriate for your needs. Built on
Windows NT(r) technology, the Windows 2000 operating system offers
business users reliability, manageability, strong Internet support, and
support for new hardware devices. For home computer users running
Windows 98 or Windows 95, Microsoft recommends, Windows Millennium
Edition for the consumer-oriented operating system from Microsoft."

SO, it could be win 2k compatability. I'm getting a copy of the latest win 2k service patch and also the latest detonator drivers this week from a friend with broadband.
Maybe I could set up dual boot win 98 on my PC? How card can that be?

personally I'd take Kingpin back and get something else.
Played it for a bit, but, apart from the language and violence theres little new there.
Certainly not worth upgrading your OS for IMHO.
