Just wondering i have 4 Ethernet interfaces on my router and simply want to add a static route to E0/0, can i simply add this route in global config mode or do i need to add when in a specific interface mode. also can you add 1 route without losing all the other routes.

add as many as you like (until config runs out of space )
routes are in global.
ip route <Network> <Mask> <Next Hop>
e.g.
ip route 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.2
in your case the "next hop" should of course be somewhere on the LAN directly connected to E0/0

of course but unless you're running a routing protocol (or divine intervention) it needs to know the next hop for a non-directly connected route. as there can be hundreds of ip addresses on an ethernet segment - it needs to know which one to forward packets to which are destined for the subnet you're routing.
