Where can I get one of the above?

I want to run dolby digital but without this I cant.

None of the shops I have checked sell it, only the lame scart version which doesnt do dolby dig.

Only shop I could find was PC world and they are all comepletely out of stock.

Anyone have any ideas? or one that they dont use?

any help would be much appreciated.

I got my Advanced SCART cable from http://ukxbox.com/.

But for the digital sound cable, i got it from a specialist place on the web (cant remember where, found it with google). Be careful when orderinf the digital cable as most places that sold one actually sold a coax cable (round connector) whereas you need a fibre optic cable with a sort of square connector (used with things like minidisc players) for the advanced SCART cable.

Druddle, am a little confused.

am v up on audio and digital connections so know what you are referring to but was under the impressiont that the advanced scart cable came with s video (round 5 pin din) and toslink (optical fibre required for dolby digital).

You imply that you bought a second cable? if you bought the advanced scat, why would you need this?

int he end I went to Amazon and found the same one by the looks of it for £10.

I also ordered one of the smaller controllers.

May live to regret that, but never mind.

I have small hands and am gonna need every advantage I can get in order to destroy Cem in a link up death match on Halo!

The official Advanced SCART cable comes with a gold plated SCART lead and cabling and a socket for the audio cable (see here.

The audio cable connects from the black box on the cable to the Xbox.

The cable you have ordered i think comes with a coax connection, not the square one. There is not a coax socket on the Xbox but i imagine you can source some sort of converter.

it is all fine though.

the output from the x box all comes via a multiplug.

I plug it in to a denon av processor which does not use scart.

Scart leads are normally configured in composite video rather than component video or rgb. If they are, you can only use tvs which are compatible, although most better sets are.

the output from the mulitplug splits to give an s video and an optical.

S video is only slightly worse than a true rgb signal in that it demodulates and redmodulates the red, the optical fibre is a requirement for dolby dig.

I wont bother using composite video (yellow rca plug) as my system is wired entirely suign s video, and in the absence of a converter the projector and lcd wont display the picture unless I feed it with s video which is much better quality than composite anyway.

in short, this lead does all i want it to do!

In actual fact i think i will invest in one of those leads if it will make that much difference to the picture. I have a 32" Toshiba telly, and the signal is going in by SCART at the mo.

I use a Denon 1802 amp so i guess i have a similar setup to you, so the same lead will work for me and then i will have everything going thru the amp.

What u reckon ?

the enhanced scart that you bought is mostly likely an rgb configured scart, otherise they wouldnt charge so much and label it enhanced.

This is about the best picture you will get.

Not sure about the denon 1802, but if it has video switching then you could plug in the S video and optical lead into it giving you 5.1.

The only advantage is that you could use it as switching gear for all your inputs, eg dvd player, laser disc (am old fashioned) ps2 or whatever.

since you have a separate toslink 9optical fibre) cable already, there is no point making this change to do what I have done as the picture will be slightly worse by dowgrading to s video, and possibly further still as the connection between the denon and the tv cannot be better than s video as it doesnt support anything better. In short it wouldnt be worth doing, except for the convenience of being able to leave the tv on one channel and switch inputs via the denon. Possibly it would give you the advantage of on screen display too, but I cant remember if the 1802 has that facility.

in short, dont waste your money!
