Guys,

Looking at purchasing a digital camera. Ideally wan't something that excels in point&shoot mode but also allows greater flexibility if needed.

I've so far narrowed the choice down to the Fuji S602Z or Cannon Powershot G2 or if I'm feeling really cheap a Minolta F100.

Has anyone had any experience of any of these cameras ? Comments greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Michael

Play with both the cameras before making your choice. I ended up with the 6900z (predecessor to s602) and couldn't be happier.

Also, be aware that Fuji are bringing out the S602pro with only a few changes - look on dpreview for the news article. Changes to the camera are limited (remote shutter release, different colour case...)

Never used the canon I'm afraid, but I love the 6900z...

Nick.

Have a look at the Nikon coolpix 5700, I have a 6900z and this is what I want next.

Question

How good is the minolta? At £299 (with free binoculars!) @ argos at the moment it looks a bargain for a 4mp camera!

I've just purchased a new digi camera and almost went for the 602, its a good camera even if its a quite an old model now, the only difference with the pro version is the remote shutter release and remote flash feature, otherwise its the same camera.
Price of the 602 is £548, Pro version £699

In the end I went for the new Finepix 304 at £338 as I couldnt justify the extra £220 of the 602.
Compared the specs of all 3 camera's and there's not a great deal of difference. The 304 weighs 295g and the 602 500g, so that helped me choose along with the fact it uses the very latest xD memory card instead of the old smartmedia card. Now I've got the camera I know I made the right choice, I can just leave it in auto mode and it takes excellent point and shoot pics, dont need all the manual features. And it is VERY user friendly, even I could work out how to use it without reading the instructions!!!!
You pays your money you makes your choice!

Whatever you decide, IMHO you cant go wrong with Fuji !

Bob

A pic taken with the 304 in its lowest setting (.3meg pixels)
it was over the 100k file size limit so i've reduced it to 87k so I could use the Turbosport uploader.
