Perhaps the goverment should stop treating the Telecoms industry as a cash cow to be plundered (3G licences ) and put some cash where its very large mouth is and invest in some national infrastructure.

I was at the presentation TB gave - it was a f***ing BT advert - quite bizzarre that the gov gives so much time to BT when it's only the third largest broadband provider after NTL and Telewest. BT have a lot to answer for....

As for Pinder not being able to get broadband where he lives, I can assure you he has plenty of bandwidth in his office ;-)

I think that the goverment should implement and pay for a "big" backbone of the adsl infastructure and then get BT to rollout adsl into homes. All exchanges should be upgraded not just the "bigger towns" as this leave people feeling frustrated with 56k!

This country is so underdeveloped its unbelievable. In Sweden a few friends have like 2 meg pipes into their homes and pay something like £20 a month, if i remember rightly most if not all have them. Sweden, accoring to my friends over there is well developed in the telecoms industry. Seems that the UK always gets the technology last, which is wrong really. We are not exaclty short of money and have a fairly large population so why do we get the crap end of the stick??
