Hi all,

In one room, I have BT Openworld ADSL using the Alcatel USB modem. The machine with the ADSL modem also has a wireless access point attached allowing me to surf the web from my notebook in another room.

What is the most straight-forward way to get the Xbox to use the ADSL connection. Can I connect it to the laptop and use its wireless connection to the ADSL linked machine ?

Next, assuming I get the Xbox connected, is their any configuration required to get it on-line. I cannot see any network settings within the Xbox console menus.

Thanks
Rod

I think X-Box online game playing is still in the beta testing stage! So I wouldn't worry about it yet if I were you!

Thumbs up

Assuming xbox uses a netork card for broadband, replace the usb modem with an ADSL router and connect to that, or put a draytec 2200usb router in between

Ive seen a few of these type of questions or late so ill explain how Ive got mine setup and playing online already.

Freeserve adsl with normal usb modem into pc, Im already running a simple lan with Internet Connection Sharing. All I did was plug a ethernet cable into my hub and the other end into the xbox - TaaDAa!! instant online gaming (Halo is seriously good online btw)

Thanks all,

so in theory, if my ADSL USB modem is plugged into machine A which in turn has a wireless access point which allows machine B to use the internet, connecting a hub to machine B and the Xbox to the hub should allow the Xbox to connect to the internet ?
