Just been wandering around town looking for a good deal on a digital camera for my wife for xmas.

Down to a shortlist of 2:
- Canon Digital Ixus V3 (3.2MP, 2x optical zoom)
- Fuji Finepix F401Z (2.1MP SuperCCDsensor with 4MP output, 3x optical zoom)

Both are 349 quid "street price".

Went into Dixons. The chap behind the desk was friendly, knowledgeable, had used both cameras, had both in stock, showed me demo photos that he'd taken on both (yes, they were of local places too and the dates were right), and was a joy to speak to.

I'm leaning towards the Canon.

I am shocked. Someone in Dixons who knew what they were talking about and was enthusiastic. Even available on interest free, which helps when car insurance is due!

Any comments on either camera? I've found reviews of both on steve's digicams, and am still going for the Canon (despite owning a Fuji 6900z which I think is the canine's conkers)

Nick.

Talking

No idea about the camera's, but are you sure you were not talking to another customer?

FB, I think you could have found the answer!

(although he did have a little badge saying "John" on it, but I suppose you can never be too sure these days...)

Well it was midweek so you got a full-time employee. Most people only experience these places on Saturdays when the PFYs are out in force, masturbating through their trouser pockets.
