how to empty calendar in outlook?

I need to completely empty my outlook calendar of all appts and start afresh, but can't find how to do this without deleting every individual appt, which would take ages.
Can anyone help please?

Change the view from 'Day/Week/Month' format to 'By Category' then select and delete everything. Or make a copy of the 'Events' view and remove the Filter from it.
