Does anyone know how to get the icons for open windows to appear on the TaskBar? This has been working up until yesterday, when my laptop had a fit about memory and froze. I rebooted but now no open window icons appear on the Taskbar.
Anyone know how to get the icons re-appearing as it's annoying cold switching between the applications. Cheers.
Version is 4.90.3000 with 256mb memory.

ewwwww ME suuuuuuuux! I would take this opportunity to install at least win98se or win2k/XP. However this problem is a weird one. Try deleting the shelliconcache file in your c:\windows\system\ dir I think. Just do a file find on shelliconca*.* Dont worry Windows will recreate it next time you bootup. It holds all the icons used on the desktop in a cache to speedup the bootup time, and general use. It might of got screwed up. If that dun work, reboot to safemode, then reboot normally, if that dun work, reinstall Then realise how crap it still is n install a decent OS

Scratch that...one reboot again later and problem still occurs... It appears to be an issue with the "default" user profile, although I have created a new User and it has the same issue...
Fecking thing...

Laptop's less than a year old, atm, so I'll faff about with it for a bit first. Don't really want to purchase Windows XP if I can help it - would rather just sort it out.
But cheers - I will bear that in mind for when the laptop is out of warranty.

Beastie - yes I tried restoring to a week last Wednesday when it was working fine. It went through the restore, re-booted and said that no changes had been made to my system.
Shunty - yhm back.
