I've not been playing this for long and I could do with a hint on how to deal with a particular mission. I'm on the one where Tony wants you to destroy some Triad vans - he tells you to go to 8 Ball to get what you need.

Anyway, I've got some grenades, but how should I go about getting the Triads? Is it best to simply stand at the side of the road, wait for one to pass and then throw a grenade at them - or what?

don't make it clear you there and they will stop at lights etc alternatly get a fire truvk and block there way making easy pickings

i found killing em with grenades very difficult
i just got the fire truck from near 8 ball and kept on ramming them until they blew up.
alternatively use your machine gun to blow up the van.
mych easier than the grenades

PS Den some handy cheats for you:

All Weapons:
R2(x2), L1, R2, left, down, right, up, left, down, right, up

All Armour
R2(x2), L1, L2, left, down, right, up, left, down, right, up

Full health
R2(x2), L1, R1, left, down, right, up, left, down, right, up

Money
R2(x2), L1(x2), left, down, right, up, left, down, right, up

Something like that anyway.

I dont usually use these things, but it just saves having to drive for miles in the middle of a mission just to get some new grenades. (Also means I can finish it quicker to buy Vice City )
