Apart from the usual Software available from Microsoft..what 3rd party proxy software would you suggest could give me the same auditing values and proxy essentials? that could match Proxy 2.0....not only on price but usability?
thank you in advance

Squid is Linux based (there is a version for Windows but I've never tried it). The Netscape/iPlanet Proxy is now Sun One Proxy server....there is a version for Win2K, have a look here

We run Squid here @ work. Very easy to setup and install, even for a complete idiot like me.
It's not GUI-driven, so getting used to touchy-feely text files is a bit of a culture shock for some. I did try the Windows version, but it isn't a true port (at that time anyway). You had to install a UNIX emulator, then run Squid in a Unix window. Didn't like that idea at all, so went back to running it on Linux.
I think Squid is probably more powerful since you can tweak all the configuration manually. You can use other Linux reporting utilities to extract as much info from the logs as you want.
The biggest hurdle for some would be the lack of a GUI to manage the thing. The MS stuff is very easy to use, since most aren't scared of the GUI managment utils. Stick them in from of a UNIX prompt and most peoples world will fall apart
A lot of the hardware solutions, use Squid or Apache as the platform and design their own GUI interface to make things easier.
