Deano,

Try axial systems http://www.axial.co.uk and ask for a guy called 'ash' I think. Used to do a very good deal and youll get a load of mugs, shirts etc too !

Dont work for the same company now so I cant tell you how much it is. We used to use it with the ATM pods too for monitoring 155mb Cellstream bearers. Amazing bit of kit, especially the graphing, triggering and decodes.

BTW - i see you work for IDL. Do you know Mick Day ?

Kev

*Might* need to buy Sniffer s/w in a hurry. Been a few years since I bought one.

Ideally looking for the S/W Version which I can use with any promiscous NIC. Dont ned too many fancy features - just good basic protocol decodes.

Looking at the web-site think that makes it "Sniffer Portable Basic" I want.

Anyone a) want to give a quick quote (to dean.smith@idl-bt.com please - not profile hotmail) or b) point me in the direction of their favourite NAI reseller.

Thanks

Deano

You looking for more than something like Ethereal ?

I use the Windows port here at work. It's not very fancy (if you're wanting graphs and charts, but it'll decode if that's all you're after.

I have used ethereal and it would do (as would the standard windows netmon). I do find the interface clunky though - I would like the added functionality of Sniffer but need to know how much I have to sting the project for....

I know Ash, he's a good guy, you're so right about the freebies!! Send me a mail at jclark@nai.com if you have time. I have a techie who's not busy enough and all the sales people are gagging.

Jack - he was very helpful when we were buying it at Egg. Give him a reseller thumbs up from me.

Deano - I worked with Mick for a long time at the above. Real good fella and you should have seen him before he went on a diet.!!

Good luck
