Well, off work at the moment, so decided to rent the GC version of this, as I have the PS2, but wondered if it worked better on GC.. unfortunately, BlockBuster ain't got it in.. So went to EB and bought it (10 money back blah blah...etc..)...
Well, first off, graphics - they are basically the same across both platforms, effects wise, detail wise, although the GC version is slightly darker (brightness wise) so you may want to adjust your TV so you can see more of the detail in darker areas. The only two differences I can see over the PS2 version is 1) anti-aliasing or resolution is better and 2) update is smoother / quicker on the GC, makes the pace of the game slightly faster if you leg it through the level...
Sound, well again, pretty much the same, but appears to be crisper and brighter, voices are definitely clearer.
Control - well, hmm.. still getting used to the GC controllers, I do like them for some games, it seems to work just as well as the PS2 for this game - only thing is, the controllers appear to be more responsive for look up/down/left/right, which can make aiming more awkward - but I think more time playing on the GC will over come this...
Multiplayer - well, haven't tested this properly yet..
But did start a 3 player game, with computer bots as well.
First thing that I noticed, was much smoother update on screen, no sign of slow down (as yet), again the image looked sharper, anti-aliasing improved... So, in short, what I wanted over the PS2 version was multiplayer mode to run smoother/faster and thats what the GC version seems to deliver thus far..
The other bonus, is you don't need to invest in a multi-tap or the like, just get people to bring their own GC controller
I think, if I was going to buy TS2 on one of these two platforms, I'd get it on GC. If you are a die hard PS2 user, you will probably find it initially easier to pick up and play on PS2 due the familar controllers.
Of course, this is all IMHO, and usual disclaimers apply!

Cheers!
Ts2 for my GV on payday then
I'll trade in 007:AUF (which I finished the day I got it - where was the longitivity in that, and I got platinum awards on all the FPS levels)

What I will say is that, playing the game on easy doesn't give away all the tasks / parts to the level.. you need to play it on hard to see the whole level.. but the game is designed as such, so that if you play throu on easy, there is still much more to see playing throu on normal and then hard..
Still, finding the aiming difficult (over responsive on GC) compared to the PS2 - but more fun in some ways - I put it down to being a playstation junky for 5 yrs (or more?)..
I've got to the Atom Smasher level, level 8 on GC (bare in mind I've played the PS2 version for the last two weeks).

Chrome - Yup, awesome game mate, completed it on easy on GC, but haven't started to play it on normal yet much, the first level is massive... On normal I've got to the helicopter gun ship but haven't blown it up yet..
Still think the control mechanism on the PS2 (possible just the controller itself) is slightly better for this game.
But multiplayer is defo better on GC, the frame rate doesn't seem to suffer as much when hundreds of bullets are flying!
Alex
DR - yeah, I've heard SFA is a bit naff.

Chrome,
Well, unfortunately, I've only unlocked the 'Street' level on Multiplayer mode (completed single player on easy). Have to say, thou I like the 'Street' and 'Wild West' multiplayer levels - but I have so many more to unlock via the challenge mode.
One level I didn't like on single player story was the PlanetX level, it justed seemed the easiest way to complete it was to storm through it and stop for nothing - the gun turrets were frustrating to use - but fun as well
I find the challenge modes a little frustrating, well a couple of them (the ones I can't get through at the mow), I'm on the last one in behead the dead and the smashing windows one. I think I need to practice more - rather than this being a critisism of the game.
I thought the snowman and elvis look alike on the Street level were hilarious, nice touch.
I'll say more when I have a chance to play it more (makes me very unpopular at home - think I need to buy a second big tv ).
Cheers, Alex
PS. what did you contribute to?

PS. I s'pose my favourite levels are (story mode):
Siberia
NeoTokyo (damn frustrating at times )
Wild West
And the one with the robots, last but one.. can't remember the name.
Intros wise:
Siberia
Chicago level
Planet X
That robot one again...
