a normal tv card with composite input should do it, if it has recording capability.
this should work on a hauppauge win TV PCI/USB, they are fairly cheap. check out dabs.com

Yep the haupauge (sp?) tv card should work fine. Just feed it with the video lead and bobs our unclue, so to speak. Theres loads of software available on the web to help in recording and encoding the movie.
I'm thinking of doing something similar with some old motorsport videos I've got that are starting to look a bit knackered. Putting them onto VCD seems a sensible option.

I had the PCI version of the WinTV card, the PCTV Rave. Does the job nice and cheaply, but only up to a res of about 640x480.
Great as a TV Tuner too, even does picture in picture.
For under £40 you can't go wrong. Had a few probs with XP with my PCI version though, so USB recommended.
