Windows Registry Editor - not for the faint hearted I suspect.....
#1
Anyone help with this, posted message at bottom last night, still ain't working but doing a search on the error message in Google took me to the MS support website. It says it's a registry problem, see below....
What is in my system now,
CLSID:REG_SZ:{083863F1-70DE-11d0-BD40-00A0C911CE86}
FriendlyName:REG_SZ: DirectShow Filters
Merit:REG_DWORD:0x600000
What MS Support says it should be....
CLSID={083863F1-70DE-11d0-BD40-00A0C911CE86}
FriendlyName=DirectShow Filters
Merit (DWORD value)=00600000
Are these the same ?, Should I give it a go using the regedit32 ?
Here's what I posted this last night.......
I've just downloaded a video file subaru.mpg from Imesh and although windows seems to recognise the file as a windows media player file (right icon) when I try to play it I get the message 'no combination of filters can be found' or 'inavlid media type'. I've been to the MS download site and downloaded the codecs available - no difference, any ideas ? I think the file might be Aussie origin - do they use some strange format ?. Is there a tool for determining what format it might be ?
p.s. doesn't work on realplayer either.
Thanks
Kevin.
