I a looking for an external CD burner for a friend with a Sony FX501 laptop.

The best I can find so far - for best read cheap, shes never going to use in IMHO - TDK CyClone firewire, 24x W, 10x RW, 40 R. Looks like a brick...

From looking at the laptop manual it has a 4 pin firewire port so would need to have the device externally powered.

Could use USB1.1 instead of firewire if it was cheaper...

Ideas? Anyone used the CyClone?

 

me use freecom (www.freecom.de but got it from www.dabs.com) external cdrw. by getting different cable, you can get interface for PCMCIA, USB 1 & 2 and firewire.
