With all this talk of which console is best and the different technical specifications, personally I feel that it's the software that sells the console.
So for each of the current consoles (PS2/GC/XBox) which do you consider the best three games, that really showcases the console in question.
Ideally I would like you to comment on consoles you own.

Agree with Andy Tang - I look for the games I want and buy the appropriate console to play them on.
Incidentally, I think my girlfriend's bought me a GameCube for my birfday on Friday.
First purchase = Mario Sunshine.
Second purchase = Luigi's Mansion
Third purchase = Possibly X-Wing or ResEvil (although I've completed it on PS1)

Personally I'm not into sport games on the PS2, but I would add Tekken 4 as the definitive fighting game.
GT3 as it's a driving simulator rather than *just* a driving game.
I was racking my brain for other games that showcases the PS2!!
For the GameCube I would say Super Mario Sunshine and Luigis Mansion. I really can't add a third as I've only recently got the GC.

I don't think it's really a debate, as we all seem to be agreed that the PS2 has the best selection of games, Xbox is the best technically and the GameCube falls somewhere between the two.
Has been said before, you pays your money and you takes your pick.

Oh, to answer your question, HALO is the Xbox game. Others like Rallisport, PGR and Hitman 2 are fine - although there's a basketball/American Football/some yank sport game (Madden?) which is supposed to be amazing.

Was trying to resist posting it....but Madden2003 (American Football) is fantastic. Amazing graphics and great gameplay. For an English mang to name it as game of the month it must have been good!

If I were buying a console I would be looking at the quality of (what would be considered the best) games, not at the sheer number of games, or technical specification of the console, etc.
Personally I buy consoles on the games available at the time:
Super Nintendo - Mario/Super Bomberman/Street Fighter
3DO - Street Fighter
PS1 - Tekken/Ridge Racer
Dreamcast - Sega Rally/Virtua Fighter
PS2 - Tekken Tag/GT3/GTA
GameCube - Lugis Mansion/Super Smash Brothers Melee
I hope this makes sense. The reason I bought all the above consoles was not what specification the machine was, which was technically better, what additional features it had, potential of the machine, but what games were available when I bought the machine!
Fair enough some of the consoles then went on to release bigger and better games, where as some didn't!

At least X-Box will be getting Splinter Cell, which has got Metal Gear Solid creators running for cover....

Oddworld: Munchs Oddesey is quality fun too

How can you people mention the PS2 without listing SSX and SSX Tricky as top titles?
Do you really not like them, or did you just forget? ;-)
Just curious cos I know people who hate games machines even who will play either of these games until into the early hours!!
Also IMHO worth a mention:-
PS2 - Halo, Jak and Dexter, and Grand Turismo 3.
XBOX - Dessert Storm, The Thing, Project Gotham Racing

well i've owned most of them so feel qualified to comment (kind of).
gamecube - luigi + mario - nothing else really lights my fire.
xbox - HALO, rallisport and a toss up between PGR and DOA
ps2 - gt3, gta3 (sorry the pc version just doesnt cut it for me) and i really cant think of a third that leaps out....
pc - unreal tournament, any quake game, deus ex, battlefield 1942 (see the fps pattern here?) everquest.
