Some fcukwit has decided that they need a SuperDLT (internal) putting on a DL360...

If you know DLT Drives an 1u Servers then You will know that I set about pissing myself...

Options do not include rack mount shelves... Swapping to the G1 DL380 or Remote Backup Solutions...

Anybody Know of any 19" rackmount disk cages sort of things... that I could mount it in then run seperate scsi cable to the server, also if I could put other drives in without having an internal scsi bus between them then this would be nice...

??

get an external case for the said backup device, get a nice long scsi cable, and have it sitting on the desk next to it? or anywhere you like.

We don't do the SCSI expander cage anymore, this would have housed two DLT drives. The Tape ArrayII might be useful, out a couple of tape drives in it and daisy chain them together.

Can't you do a network backup or is the server stand alone as such?

I'm not sure whether the plugable tape drives from the 380G2 and the 580G2 are supported on the 360, I can check on Monday if it's of interest.

The server is not going to be supported by me... Its Unix and Id rather not have owt to do with it... Dont really want to have to back it up remotely.. .Weve got a superDLT for it... We use some compaq box with touchscreen for our's (Cant remember model...)

One option might be put it into an early dl380 with the two 5 1/4 bays and then use the four scsi hotplugs for the disks...

If you could check on monday whats available that would be cool.

David,

The plugable tape drive from the 380G2 isn't supported on the 360G2, after speaking to the techies it might work because the tape drive is an LVD and the backplane on the 360G2 uses a LVD bus.

The tape drive is actually an AIT 35GB drive not an SDLT, there is an AIT 50GB available.

Mail me off line with the name of the company you work for and your reseller details - I might be able to do something to help you out.
