Question

Keep hearing adverts on the radio for NTL Broadband at £14.99 with installation at £25 instead of £75.
Is it any good/reliable? I am using a mac will it work with that (OS 8.6)?
Cheers,
Mark.

well, i am not using NTL or any broadband at the moment, but if there's NTL in my area, i definitely consider the £15/month braodband from NTL. the connection speed you are getting is only 128k but that's a lot better than my £14/month unmetered dial-up at 56k (more like 46k when connected).

the next up from their 128k is the 600k at £25/month.

I have used ntl cable modem for 2.5 yrs and only had 2 outages. one was for 6 hrs (their fault) and one was cos my NIC died.

Yes si you should be getting 600k as they upgraded all the 512k services recently (for free).

Mark,

I'm using 128K NTL Broadband with an iMac - no problems. Used to have 512K service but went down to 128K to save a tenner a month. Only see any difference if doing big file downloads, which I rarely do...

Cheers,
Gareth

My work mate has the NTL 1mb which IIRC is £39.99 pm rather than the £19.99 for 512k. He regular VNC's to his home box and sets off kazaa etc and gets 100-120k sec.

For £14.99 I pay the extra and get the 512k option if you download a lot of files. If you only want it for games then get the cheaper option as the speed is the same across the board.

Simon.

I live in Milton Keynes - cabled up to the max but those NTL sh1tters will not roll broadband out here - I hate them I hate them (and I hate them)... look - I have money for NTl sat here - will they take it .. Nope..

Unfortunately it looks like NTL will go bust before they will get round to doing MK.. (Bah)
