Last week I bought myself a complete set of components to build myself a new pc.
On the weekend I decided to build it got it running and installed Win XP - so far so good.
Last night I turned on the PC ready to install the rest of my software and nothing! no bios, no hard drive, no floppy drive, I do have power though the power light is on and the Usb port light are on.
Basically I need help please!
Cheers

Strip it/disconnect the drives etc... leaving just the mb and a video card. Fire it up and see where it gets.
Also check for the stray screw between the mb back and the metal backing.

Got to admit ive had this a few times when i built this PC im on now.
Sometimes i'd boot others not.
Got to the point i literally took it all apart and rebuilt it making sure everything was right and double checking.
I know its annoying but what can you do

I go with HHxx on this one, I had PC with a blown PSU, after replacing it the system was still dead. Assuming it was the mobo I replaced it but it was still dead. It turned out that the hard disk power had been damaged and this was shutting down the new PSU. When I disconnected the HD it was OK.

I have had this sort of problem once. It turned out to be the power supply. Waggle the wires coming out of the power supply and away it went. Had been down the change the motherboard route. Replacement PSU done the job.
