Has anyone fitted a modchip to their Xbox ?? Have you had any problems with DVD-R media when playing backups and applications ?
I know the Xbox DVD drive is very picky about what it reads.

Have a mate who has a chipped X-Box and his works fine.He uses FWS branded media which are available from SVP Communications and they work first time every time.He uses a Pioneer 104 writer at 1 speed burn...
I ordered FWS DVD-R's for my Pioneer A03 and I burned 3 DVD-R's which completed successfully but my PS2 wouldn't recognise em .I then bought some Generation 4 DVD-R's and they work fine so I think a lot of it is down to the actual media/drive you use!!!!
This guy sells modchips at very good prices and from what I've heard is pretty reliable!!!
Good luck
Nick
P.S: Be careful with what versions of firmware you flash your DVD writer to as well!!!!

I'm getting an Evo 2.4 fitted tomorrow - I'll let you know how it goes. My mate's got an Enigmah which has been fine, no trouble at all. Mind you, neither of us watch DVDs on them.

V5,
i dont think they are on about DVd films,
i have heard that for the Xbox the games should be on DVd media
as some modchips have problems playing other types of media.cdr etc

FYI
I have an X-Ecuter installed and last night put in a 123gig IBM drive, and installed EvoX dashboard.
Used xbcopy to copy 3 games direct from DVD to the HDD and FTPd some ISO backups I have aswell onto it from my PC.
Man its awesome, load speeds are soo much faster. WOuld thoroughly recommend doing it.
Be aware that there are some gotchas though so if you want to know more mail me.
