Question

Can anyone recommend any good resellers or manufacturers of Document Management systems?

Just in the research stage at the moment!

Cheers

I used to work for a company called Cimage. We were developing a document management system. I think they've merged now though - take a look at www.cimagenovasoft.com.

Andy,

Depending on your needs and size of enterprise...

Documentum is the "daddy" for general content management (document management, web content management, digital asset management etc etc).

For document imaging in the smaller enterprise, you could look at Kofax.

Hope this helps,
Gareth

Definately Documentum. Shouldn't really be recommending them as they are one of our competitors, but its a good off the shelf package

Are you after a 'large scale production' system - I've used both FileNet and Tower. Both have +/- points. Big $$$ though!

Another vote for Documentum - as for FileNet, its in use where I currently work, and it seems to be a pain in the a$$, IMHO, from a admin point of view...

just my 2cents..

Sounds like Andy just has an imaging requirement...

Documentum has always been weak in its own offerings for image capture (e.g. DocInput) compared to Filenet etc. However, Kofax integrated with Documentum is a good mid-range solution if you already need Documentum for more general document/content management.

Apparently Documentum 5 will include a "production-level" image capture solution. I hope its not just another rebadging of InputAccel.

Andy - if you go for Kofax make sure you budget for Fujitsu-type scanners with built-in accelerator cards. These probably cost more than the software but are indispensible for trouble-free scanning with Kofax.

Probably won't need the scanner unless we need to input old files!

At the moment everything is printed off and 'walked' around the office!!! Strange as the only potentially paper based item are faxes, but they come in via an Exchange add on as a TIF file!

Just want a way to put together 3 'paper' items together in an email, then have a couple of other items added and filed!

Good procedures would actually negate the need to get a package!

Exclamation

Forgot to ask, how good is Kofax at workflow? It seems to do the job, but how well?

I really want to move work around the office in an electronic format!
