Hi, hopefully someone can help. Got a pc connected to the internet. If I bung a cheap lan card in that and another pc, will the 2nd pc automatically also be able to use the internet too? (the 1st pc is always connected via isdn). do I need anything else apart from 2 lan cards and the cable?

thanks in advance.

the answer to your question is yes you can connect up 2 PCs to share the internet connection.

if you are using win98se, w2k or XP, then you can use ICS (internet connection share) which is the software needed for sharing internet connection.

both PCs will need a network card and a corss over cable if you directly connect them together. if you are using normal cat5 cables, then use a hub/switch.

btw, do you really wanna use ISDN to connect up to the internet? had a friend who was using ISDN for internet connection and his fone bill per quarter was about £1200!!! now he swapped it for ADSL for only £29.99/month (business packages).

well -i'm stuck with 128k isdn 'cos I live in a modern city.. "sh1te on BT and double sh1te on NTL"

I just bought a shiva ISDN router so I could have a couple of pc's running anytime, without both having to be switched on

Yep, god I hate it when people say "Why don't you use ASDL ?", "Because BT won't put it in !!!"

Yep, I use ISDN but use a Cisco ISDN router that gives up to four machines access to the 'net via the hub on the back plus a few other options. Has worked for me for 3 or 4 years without a problem.

Cheers

Ian
