Unhappy

Occasionaly when I first built this machine it would sound like it started up, but the screen never came on. It would then boot up fine with a 'reset'.

After a year or so it has now become almost normal practice to reboot to be able to start the thing unless it has been running a short while previously!

Any ideas as to what might be going wrong? - Please

K7S5A mobo, 1.2 Duron, 256 MB SDRAM, 04/02/01 AMI BIOS,

Cheers

Is the screen powering on but staying on standby until the reset or is it not coming on at all?
If the screen is powered from the computer power supply try using a seperate powerlead straight into the mains for monitor power.

Question

You wouldn't happen to have a GeForce 2 video card would you?

Thanks guys...

Screen does go into standby mode but not power on, it has separate power lead direct to mains.

Graphics card is SiS 305 32MB Mercury branded.

Cheers

Cool

The story goes that the heatsink on the SiS 750 chipset may be responsible & to remove it, take off the sticky pad and remount ?

Oh well... 'How hard can it be?'

Wish me luck
