Jack,
Had a meeting with sophos yesterday, they were saying that there product (SAVI) was better for intergrating with MailSweeper and websweeper as it was a DLL based scanner, where as we have to use the command line scanner...
Do you have either a DLL based scanner that I can edit the mailsweeper scenario to use... or a scenario for mailsweeper and websweeper...
Only other things were free licences to home users and 24x7 support free of charge...
Also whens the new version of netshield out?
David

I use & administer our Sophos here in the office...I have to say it is an excellent product, central administration/rollout and absolutely SUPERB support staff.
Cannot praise them highly enough.
(and no I dont have any links with Sophos at all, just a satisfied customer)

I'm also an end user of Sophos and find it very easy to update daily.
Seems to catch everything I've ever been sent.
For a company I really like the fact that all users can also install it on their home machines to protect the company network from viruses brought in by floppy etc.

Mail/Websweeper will use
Sophos
F-Secure
McAfee
Symantec
Command
As the AV engine. Last time I checked Sophos was the best of these due to the dll nature of the engine, but they all work.....
If you already have the relevant license I'd stick with what you know/like. My info is about 12 months old so I'd check if I was you.

This is a tricky one. It's true that Sophos intergrates in a very elegant manner with Mimesweeper. We do the same with Mail Marshall. But, why not do your mail scanning at your mail server, or install an in-line mail scanner. Most of our customers already have these applications as a part of their licence. Sophos only bang on about SAVI because they've tried and failed for years to produce an effective gateway product. Quite a few customers I visit have gotten rid of Mimesweeper after discovering the content scanning abilitys of the Groupshield range.
Denzil_dog, that's the problem with Sophos, it's pretty much always out of date. Your CD will have taken at least six weeks to produce even before it sat on your desk.

Ooops, forgot a couple.
Our support is 24/7 and you can have if free if you don't mind paying extra for the product. Free support is only good when your product goes wrong all the time - I like to compare Sophos with Hyundai.
The only new version of NetShield that I know of is going to be the next release - not giving out dates - that combines Netshield and VirusScan - excluding Netware.
