Question

wondering how to add a security password to floppy disk.
can anyone help thought it might be possible using microsoft word but not sure how to ,however i have seen floppy disks with password security so i no it can be done.

just for storing various data anything from pictures to web pages info etc.

use a program like winzip (www.winzip.com) to compress the files, and create an archive (compressed file) that is password protected.

You cannot just password protect a disk, you have to use either the option above, or say in word, when you go to file - >save, go to security and type in the required password (in office xp), or off the top of my head in other versions, go to file->save, click on options then password.

same goes for most of the office suite (powerpoint/excel/access)

you could by a security application such as SafeBoot. One of my customers uses it to encrypt and secure their audit data.

Password protecting at an application level isn't secure, but it depends on how much you are willing to pay and what the long term cost would be if the data was stolen.
