Installing Win2K Server
#1
Attempting to re-build my home server with a back-up copy of Win2k Server.
Every time it tries to copy "driver.cab" it hangs/reboots/asks to retry file. I assume the disk is scratched or something. Strange thing is it copys fine on either my DVD or CD on my main PC. I've tried 3 different CD drives in the server (2 x IDE, 1 x SCSI) and its the saem result. Copied the CD on my main PC (no errors reported) but the new copy still does the same.
Arrrgh. It will be tuesday before I can get a completely fresh copy of the CD
Given that I can read it OK in another PC - can you do a netwokr install of Win2K server ?

I had this problem. So i borrowed the CDROM drive from my other pc which read the disk fine. Problem sorted. Weird tho as I even made a fresh copy to try...

If when you said you copied it onto your PC you mean you just copied the file outside of the setup program then it is entirely possible that this could work but then fail during setup. The setup program does some kind of integrity check on the data and while the file may be readable it could be corupt which will cause the copy operation to be aborted.
