Don't bother with the older "Alan Titchmarsh" Garden Designer program as given away with loads of PCs because it is totaly chuff. Doesn't run on half the systems in our house and when it does run it is flaky as hell. Output is also poor.
There is a much more recent package you can get which is deemed to be excellent and will even create drawings for a builder and will also calculate materials required. Also does 3D views etc. but buggered if I can remember the name. Only saw it is PC World the other day as well (at over market value price).
