Basically, it uses some fuzzy logic, combined with their huge DB of indexed web pages, to try and find commonality between keywords.
The clever part is that having calculated some common ground between the keywords, it then uses that information to attempt to extrapolate the set forward to predict what other items would logically fit into that set.
So, for example, stick in 'John', 'Paul', and 'Ringo', and it will come back with 'George' as the final logical member of the set.
