Andy,
i have got a TRV30e, which includes a memory stick for short "web video". This is transfered via USB, which is a socket on the camera with a symbol like a trident with a circle, an arrow and a square on the points. The actual socket is a micro-USB (or something like that), so you will need a cable that connects this to a normal USB socket for your PC - this should have come with the camera!
Alternatively you could buy a Memory Stick reader that plugs directly into your PC, and physically transfer the data.
FYI, the FireWire socket (for DV video transfer) has a symbol like an "i" with a circle overlapping it.

OK - the connections can be seen here
The DV out is Firewire which means you'll need to get a Firewire card for your PC, a lead and some software to edit movies with. You can either buy it all seperately or get a package of the lot like this. The software is pretty basic, but you can always upgrade that later if you get into it.
Not sure what the Memory Stick is being used for though - it's normally photos & mpeg clops, but you'd need a USB terminal to get them off, unless you have to use a seperate Memory Stick reader......
