Is there a way to find out? Brand new laptop, WinXP Pro, just got it all going, and it's continously accessing the disc, even with no programs running!

I don't have indexing services enabled.

cheers,

greg

hit ctrl + alt + del and select task manager,

have a look at what processes are running and see what is using your cpu most - chances are it will be the same thing that is caneing your hdd.

Possible Causes:
- Virus scanner
- To many windows open & not enough memory
- Windows being windows :rolleys:

you can also check what's being loaded at startup at start/all programs/startup. also have a check with msconfig. goto start/run and type in msconfig.

p/s it was me on the scooter in westminister. hope you didnt think it was a carjacking job .
