Chuck the modem...
Was the modem internal or external? How was it connected PCI, ISA,USB or Serial?
Were the accessories pluged in at the time?

You shouldn't have left it outside during a storm should you?

Seriously, I've never been in this position but this is what I'd do..

1. If the modem is gubbed, bin it.
2. Run scandisk and defrag.
3. The utilities that don't operate properly uninstall and reinstall the software.
4. If you've still got problems, format and reinstall OS.
5. Finally once everything is back to normal buy new modem.

Colin.

You need to check the camera with someone else's PC as it may be fried too.
