Is My Motherboard Nackered?
#1
Problem is as follows -
When I issue a print the printer prints about a third of the page and then throws a page and starts printing the rest of the text, this may go on for about 4 or 5 pages. I have tried the printer & cable on another PC and it works fine. I have installed a new PCI Parallel card and this still has the same problem. I have disabled the onboard LPT port but this does not help. I was using Windows ME but have now moved up to Windows 2000 and the fault is still there.

Any more suggestions, I have tried all the usual ones and I am now coming to the conclusion it is either the motherboard or the processor.

P.S I work in IT Support so know most of the things to look for.

DominicA,
I have tried this and every other possible solution even another printer and cable. All boards and memory have been re-seated all that is left is the processor and motherboard.

Same sort of symptons, but its an Epson Photo 700 printing a Windows test page or just a few lines of text. PC is a AMD Athlon 900, 512MB Ram, two 40GB harddrives.

Try changing the lpt port mode in the bios. Some printers prefer EPP over ECP or vice versa.
also check the printer properties page is set for the correct paper size. Good old Microshaft make Letter the default in most cases.
