I run popup-stopper and zonealarm I've not had anyprobs. This may sound silly but there is an option on the browser to stop images being displayed. tools->internet options.

what chat progs do you run? check the ports they go through and double check the firewall is actully set to let them through.

Install the firewall first and run it for a while, fine-tuning its settings. Recommend ZoneAlarm

Then install the pop-up killer. Recommend AdsGone

Those Firewalls... as good as they are can also be the biggest pain in the ***! There a nightmare as they're often forgotton about when things go wrong and quite often it's because of the Firewall software going on in the background. Once, I couldn't for the life of me get two PC's networked together and I was certain I was doing it right, I'd had them talking to each other a few days before - it turned out it was because Zone Alarm was blocking ALL incoming TCP/IP traffic.

So, check all your settings as as another member mentioned - you have to use Zone Alarm for sometime before it allows you access to certain things. It slowly updates the configuartion as and when you run certain things on your PC.
