producing 3d graphs in vb .net

Any ideas how I could do this, ideally without 3rd party components..

dont want to use excel.. as that would require licencing... whats vrml vector rendering something??

How easy is direct3d?

VRML is an open standard for describing 3d objects. Browsers can display it with plugins. I guess not ideal for your task.
I don't think there are any .NET types for doing Direct3d stuff, so you are going to be limited by that, plus it is a bit of overkill. I have not touched it, so wouldn't really know how difficult it will be. Is something I am interested in though, so may have a look when I have some time.

I think that the way to go would probably be using the System.Drawing class, and building up the graph using the primitives.

So, what sort of graph are you looking for?
I am guessing some sort of 3d grid surface rather than just a bar graph with depth ?

Have you got a copy of Excel? You could try automating it.
Otherwise it is self drawing in a homespun control, or if you are feeling adventurous you could use Direct3d.
EDIT: I guess you could count Excel + Direct3d as 3rd party components. Depends on your definition of 3rd party
