WINAMP does it, set the preferences to out_disk.dll then play a tune, only takes a few seconds depending on your pc

You can use "Sound Recorder" from your start menu.
It lets you choose the bit rate you want to compress to.

easy peasey -
go to folder options in the explorer toolbar, click on view and make sure the box next to " hide filename extensions for known file types" is UNCHECKED. apply the changes and ok. now you will see all the files in my docs or whereever have a three letter filename extension displyed.right click on the mp3 file to want to convert and select rename. Change the last 3 letters from mp3 to wav, and press enter. Windows may tell you a file may become unstable but ignore this. The icon will now change to the wav icon.
You now have the same track but as a wav.
I would suggest you tick the box that you unchecked earlier, as this can cause probs when saving attachments etc. This method works for other file conversions, you need to experiment.

lol at chris... if only.... it would make migrations so much easier... wonder if you have outlook client on and then install lotus notes client it does all the servers..

Just think soon you will be able to buy new routers, switches, firewalls... and just reinstall the admin tool
