Delays with hyperlinks

I am experiencing intermittent and sometime very lengthy delays after clicking links
Am using IE6 with Norton Antivirus although happens even if disabled
Both with cable modem and BT dialup
Any ideas

Sounds like it could be slow DNS lookups. How long do manual lookups (nslookup) take for the same domains? Remember once it's been looked up your nameserver (or the one you use) may well cache it, so subsequent non-authorative requests will be faster.
