Pisses me off, too. I have particular problems with it because having a freeware app which I distribute through various sites (e.g., download.com) the address gets everyewhere. I usually get 30-40 junk mails per day - sometimes double that.
However, I've now got a fairly comprehensive set of mailbox rules and manage to successfully filter all of the mails into an 'unaddressed' folder, where a quick glance means I can double-check and then delete them all within about 15 seconds.
It is, though, a right-royal PITA.

I seem to be getting more and more junk email. Do advertisers really think I am going to click on their links, they must be stupid. What goes through their tiny minds, yes its so simple to send email to a list but it even easier to hit the delete button. I do love the ones at the bottom that say click here if you want top be removed. Why the hell should I, I didnt want an email off you in the first place.
I have never brought anything off ones of these emails and I doubt I ever will the email name are funny though I guess they have a program that generates these, as who in the right mind would be named "eerre45$$//.fre44zpre@this_is_junk.com". They are just annoying and get dumped directly in my deleted folder.

Ive started to use MailWasher! It downloads the mails from the pop server so you can choose weather to 'Bounce', delete or process, the good thing is Bounce sends them a delivery failure message Seems to be working too as I used to get shed loads of rubbish
It's freeware, got it from there site: MailWasher.net

I have just had a look at that sight, isn't it easer just to click on delete when you know you have junk mail.
Or put a block on it in your mail tools?
Also theres 2 versions, witch is the better one?

The idea for me of using mailwasher is so you can bounce back the emails so the sender / mailing list recives a delivery failure so they remove you from the list! It actually seems to be working as well!!!!
Didn't know there was two versions on there, I am using Beta 1.33
Up to you, but it seems to work for me so far.
Dave.

Chel,
the version i am using v1.32 checks with anti-spam
sites to see if the spammer is listed there and then tells you !
i.e. "origin blacklisted by ...." etc. the earlier version didnt
do this.

The good thing with mailwasher is that once your bounced emails return to the sender, they sometimes think your email no longer exists and remove you from their lists.
I used to get 100 emails a day on my spam email address - this is now down to about 10-15
